Simple explanations of the words used in DoconDuty and in this guide, in alphabetical order.

Term Meaning
Active / Inactive (account) An active account can log in. An inactive (deactivated) account cannot. Deactivating keeps the person's history; it does not delete anything.
Active / Inactive / Discontinued (medicine) Only Active medicines appear in prescription search and can be prescribed or dispensed. Inactive and Discontinued medicines are hidden from new prescriptions but stay on old ones.
Admin Portal The part of DoconDuty used by Hospital Admins, Billing Admins and the Super Admin.
Allergies Substances the patient reacts badly to. Shown in red on the doctor's consultation screen.
Appointment A booked time for a patient to see a doctor, with a date, time slot, type and status.
Appointment status Where an appointment is in the day: Scheduled, In Queue, In Progress, Completed, Cancelled or No Show.
Billing Admin A staff role for accounts staff, limited to invoices.
Check in Recording at the front desk that a patient has arrived (with their intake vitals). Moves the appointment to In Queue.

Deactivate Switch off an account so the person can no longer log in.
Demo Request An enquiry from a prospective customer through the public Book a Demo form. Handled only by the Super Admin.

Dosage form The form of a medicine: tablet, capsule, syrup, injection, cream/ointment, drops, inhaler, patch, suppository or powder.
Follow-up A later visit to check progress. A Follow-up Date on a prescription is advice printed for the patient; a Follow-up appointment actually reserves the time.
Front Desk The staff role (and portal) for registering patients, booking appointments and checking patients in.
Hospital Admin The administrator of one hospital or clinic. Manages that hospital's staff, doctors, patients, medicines and records.
In Queue The patient has checked in and is waiting for the doctor.

Lab Admin The staff role for laboratory technicians, using the Lab Portal.

Medicine master Your hospital's own list of medicines (shown as Medicine Database). Doctors choose medicines from it when prescribing. Each hospital has its own.
Medicine snapshot A copy of a medicine's name, strength, form and maker saved inside a prescription at the time it is written, so later changes to the medicine master never alter old prescriptions.
Minimum threshold The stock level at or below which a medicine is flagged as low stock.
No Show The patient did not come to their appointment.
Patient record A patient's registered details: name, phone, age, gender, blood group, allergies, chronic conditions and contact information, plus their UHID.
